Watcher of the Skies (Banks, Rutherford)

from Tributes 1 by Robert Svilpa

The first time I tried to cover this song was back in 2005 - it was on the list of songs that I had forwarded to my group of musician friends from work who I'd enlisted to record a bunch of cover tunes for a Hurricane Katrina benefit release that never happened. I had the basis of the song programmed as a MIDI file, including drums, that I was going to use as a guide track for the session. The next time I actually recorded the song - 2008 - it was included with the Fine Line pre-release EP along with the first version of several songs that are on this release. Now, this version I had originally counted on having that project from 2008 available but it had disappeared/deleted from my hard drive. Since I'd promised that this song would be on the Tributes album, and since I really like this song a ton (hugely influential on me as a 17 year old aspiring songwriter/musician) I've gone back and done everything completely from scratch and have it as my own final version of this song I'll record.
