Ramble On (Page, Plant)

from Tributes 1 by Robert Svilpa

(Rob) - I was 5 years old and my dad (who was a TV Repairman) brought a mono phonograph back to fix. The guy who owned the phonograph was insistent that my dad take one of his albums with it to make sure the record player was fixed right. My dad had no taste for rock music, much less Led Zeppelin, and so got home and put it on the home stereo to see what it's supposed to sound like before he got to work on the phonograph. For whatever reason, I think my mom liked the album since she put it on several times afterwards - somehow the album never got back to its' owner (which was pretty cool - I still have this in my possession and it's on the red label Atlantic super heavy vinyl so it's a bit of a collector's item). This album, along with The Beatles, Joni Mitchell, CSNY, The Guess Who, etc... that was on the radio at the time made indelible marks on my tastes and eventually who I would learn from.

(unfortunately, I'm no Robert Plant but I hope what I've imparted vocally will suffice)

Leaves are falling all around, time I was on my way...
