Killer Queen (Mercury)

from Tributes 1 by Robert Svilpa

Likely *the perfect pop song* by one of the greatest ever rock bands - without a doubt everything about the original version of this song was insanely well done from the slightly understated lead vocal (for Freddie), the amazing vocal harmonies, arrangements, impeccable tasty guitar solo consisting of layered Brian May harmonies, simple but driving rhythm section...

The rhythm section was recorded in my garage back in 2005 with a crappy drumkit I traded a crappy guitar for, miked up with an assortment of microphones that Jay and I had in our collections. Brian played bass and by this point of the evening I think we'd had plenty of beer and General Tso's Chicken so it's a relaxed kind of tight.

I had been meaning to complete this song for a long long time, but the vocals and guitars were pretty intimidating. Finally got around to it a couple weeks ago, got the guitars knocked out in an aftternoon then struggled with vocals for almost a week.

This is the final mix of the song (as far as I can tell).

She keeps Moet et Chandon in her pretty cabinet...
